A ceiling is an overhead interior surface that bounds the upper edge of the room or hall. It is generally the finished surface that will cover up the unpleasant finishing of the roof. Since the ceiling is the concealing element, it should always be kept clean and pleasing to look at for that matter.

Dancing on the Ceiling

Typically, there are more than a few types of ceiling according to its design and according to the type of building that the ceiling is designed.

Cathedral ceiling – this type of ceiling are mostly seen inside the cathedrals and churches. It is distinctive because of its tall ceiling area. Yet, apart from churches, cathedral ceilings can also be seen in old castles or sophisticated mansions.

A dropped ceiling is the type wherein the finished surface is designed few inches below the structure above it. This kind of ceiling design is usually created for aesthetic sense.

Concave or barrel shaped ceiling is basically curved and rounded still intended for artistic purposes.

Coffered ceiling – the type of ceiling that is divided into grids of square or octagonal panels. This kind of ceiling design is usually termed as lacunar ceiling.
