Childproofing
What is childproofing?
To childproof your home means removing or altering potential hazards to keep all the areas of your house safe for young children, especially for the always curious toddlers.

Why childproofing is important
Why is it important to childproof your home?
Accidents do not always occur outside the home. In fact, many accidents resulting to fatal physical trauma and death of school-aged children and below happened inside the home.
A study published in the British Medical Journal which surveyed 910 home accidents involving children below 15 years old showed that in the 95% of the cases analysed, one or both parents were in charge of the child the time the accident happened. This finding implies that the presence of parents or child carers does not guarantee child safety, and that safety measures should be implemented.
Common home accidents and prevention
The most recent statistics from the U.S. National Safety Council and other reliable sources showed that fire and burns, suffocation, drowning, firearms, falls, choking and poisoning are the most common cause of home injury and injury-related death among children. This calls for parents and carers to a take a more proactive approach to childproofing and home safety issues.
In this regard, we offer you here a childproofing check list, as well as articles on child safety basics and child safety toys and gears, which we hope will help you make your home safe for children.
