Fences, Gates and Walls

Fences and walls often indicate the type of family living inside it. For the wealthy and famous, living behind high walls and fences often speak about security concerns. It is a defence mechanism to separate the outside world from their home life. Some like the privacy that high walls provide but this often isolates them from their neighbours as well. It may not matter in such exclusive enclaves and high-class subdivisions where people do not care so much about their neighbours but in middle-class communities, such an action could be misconstrued as insensitive or uncaring. Putting up a gate usually tells a visitor that he is entering private property and should be careful while inside. Some gates have electronic devices installed such as an intercom, video camera above it to record visitors and automatic remote locks when entering and exiting.
