Garbage Disposals

Garbage disposal device, also known as garburator, is a waste disposal device installed under a kitchen sink to grind and shred waste, specifically food waste, to allow its passage through the drain and the sewage system. Though some states and regions prohibit the use of garbage disposal because of the perceived damage it can cause to public sewer system, the device is widely used in North America and in some European countries including UK, Sweden, and Spain. Garbage disposal was invented by American John W. Hammes in 1927, and was first commercially distributed in 1938 by InSinkErator. Since the introduction of the device in the market, the number of U.S. and European households using it rose, mainly because of the convenience the device it offers to residents.
